The Awaire device is called the Aura. The Aura is a portable networked mp3 player, with built in GPS. It has vast amounts of storage space and relies on a high speed network and precise location tracking. It is for these reasons that we envision Awaire as a reality in 3 to 5 years.

The connections we feel with people come in all forms. Most connections we make with strangers are on a visible level. These visual connections occur because we share common experiences, whether they are standing in the subway together, or just crossing the street.

The Aura facilitates visual connections by glowing different colors according to the tempo of the song playing. In addition, the removable earbuds glow as well. To see a colorful display of how people could potentially interact using the earbuds, see our video.

INTUITIVE PRODUCT DESIGN
The Aura's product design was created from the ground up to be both easy to use and convenient. When closed the screen of the device is only 2 inches by 2 inches, which makes it extremely light and portable. Using Mitsubishi's newly developed reversible LCD screen, the device can display condensed options when closed and all options when opened.

The form, made of light plastic with an acrylic clear outside shell feels ergonomically comfortable in a user's hand. The outside shell allows the device to glow, another way of displaying your music choice to the world.
