To better understand our target users we interviewed iPod fanatics at various locations throughout New York City, including Washington Square Park, Central Park and Union Square Park. The following is a list of questions we asked, with a synopsis of the answers we received. | ||

Q | What functions do you use most on your iPod? | |||||
A | Almost all users mentioned the random or shuffle function. A few people mentioned that they used the volume control often and would like it to be a hard button. | |||||
Q | Does the size feel comfortable? | |||||
A | Many users place their iPods in their pockets or in bags, so having a small device was extremely important, many chose the mini iPod over the regular simply because the size felt better. | |||||
Q | How do you most often select and categorize music? | |||||
A | Some users do not select music, they only load music they are currently listening to and place the songs on shuffle. Most often users selected by artist and a few by mood, rarely did they select by genre. | |||||
Q | Have your music habits changed since your purchase? | |||||
A | People have a higher appetite for music and have learned to expect new music more often. | |||||
Q | If you could access the libraries of your friends' iPods, would you? | |||||
A | Many people were excited by this idea and mentioned that they often trade music with their friends and a more direct way to access music appealed to them. | |||||
Q | Do you listen to online radio? | |||||
A | Many people said that they wished their iPod had iTunes capabilities and wondered why this was not already a part of the iPod. Others mentioned that since they began downloading music they never listen to traditional radio. | |||||
